It offers the participants an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom and to take advantage of materials and locations which are available only through travel and study programs offered abroad. TRAVEL/STUDY is open to teachers, librarians, administrators, private school personnel, and other interested persons who are working with children.

ACADEMIC CREDIT IN OTHER ACADEMIC AREAS THROUGH INDEPENDENT DISTANCE LEARNING
The Cemanahuac Educational Community has received permission from the University of Minnesota to offer distance education courses in Mexico, through their Independent and Distance Learning program. The array of academic courses they offer is impressive and encompass most of the areas of general education required of most undergraduates, including (but not limited to) history, mathematics, journalism, anthropology, psychology, biology, political science and even women's studies.
They offer three options for study;
- an extended term, whereby the work must be completed in a nine-month period
- term based enrollment, in which the student must follow the university semester calendar
- special term enrollment, which is available for selected courses.
The University of Minnesota's Independent and Distance Learning is one of the most comprehensive in the United States. We selected their program for Cemanahuac students to offer our students the best of both worlds: an opportunity to live in Mexico for a quarter or a semester (or longer!) in an atmosphere of total immersion in Spanish, earning credit for at least three courses in Spanish, yet at the same time studying in other academic fields and earning credit for these, all of which will enable a student to complete degree requirements in a timely fashion.
We hope that students will earn their credit in Spanish at their home institution, and the course from the University of Minnesota's Independent and Distance Learning program will be used as transfer credit to supplement the Spanish language credit. Fees charged in the Independent and Distance Education program are reasonable and correspond to the regular tuition rates for University credit. There is no surcharge for "out of state" students. They also offer counseling to assist you in selecting the proper course for your individual degree requirements.
