For over 25 years, Cemanahuac has offered one of the finest programs of Spanish language study in Mexico. It is an excellent program for those who wish to quickly develop a working proficiency in Spanish.

In addition to the four-hour language classes each day, taught by native speakers of Spanish from 9:00 to 1:00 each weekday, students may participate in professional seminars, field trips, and conversation and vocabulary classes in the other half of the day.

Individual students at Cemanahuac enjoy high-quality language programs and special professional vocabulary workshops, as well as volunteer opportunities in Cuernavaca (for those whose study programs are four weeks or more).

Additional programs are available for small groups on a topics specific to your needs. Current and past programs have included:

• Gender and role identity in the Mexican family structure
• Issues of vulnerable populations...women, children, the elderly, and the disabled
• Structure and delivery of social service programs
• Health care and health problems in Mexico
• Migration and immigration issues and concerns
• Economic issues (1994-2001), their effect on the Mexican family, and implications for the future

Professional visits to such facilities as an orphanage, a children's hospital, a rural health clinic, and the many social service program offices here in Cuernavaca, the capital city for the state of Morelos, can be included in the program for small groups. For those who are interested, a visit to the United States Embassy of Mexico can be included also, to learn more about official policies of both governments in regard to the poor of Mexico.
